Yeah- I'm working on a video highlighting differences of the '79 vs other models and that will be included. Makes fuel switching easier inflight, but I didn't realize how difficult it would make partial fuel loading if you are carrying a bunch of people- hard to know exactly how much fuel is in the inner tanks once the outer tanks are empty. I can dipstick the outer tank but once it is down to <1-2" I know I have <25gal remaining in that wing total but not how little is remaining unless I rely on my fuel burn data.
 
A fuel totalizer is very handy for stuff like this. It also makes longer range flights more comfortable.

I have the EDM 830 so it has fuel used, remaining, and required to destination. However, that doesn't resolve the problem of telling it how much you start with if starting from partially filled tanks.
 
Hmm... true. If it was reset last time tanks were topped, it should be close to accurate.
