New to site -- Actor- would love feedback

Oh and one more thing - some pilot in San Luis Obispo walked right up to me due to a posting here (that said where I would be that weekend). He said "you are Kimberly Anne." Another time, I was introduced to a pilot at my home airport, he shook my hand, and said "are you on the internet?"

So using your name and photo alone is powerful. Aviation is such a small world.

With all that internet publicity you have done Kimberly, I can easily see you starring in something like "Flying Wild California"

I hate cameras and camcorders. If I see people with cameras I hide or duck. I sometimes do allow photos since I have to but not without a fight (and usually I'll set up the shot or give the photographer instructions).

Say what? You are like the #1 photo poser and shooter!

I take photos, yes. But you should see me around cameras. I actually hide. Now at big events I realize that I can't hide (too many cameras).

Heck, even that captain guy got out of his seat (Airbus, Virgin America Airlines) and I did NOT want to have him take my photo so I hid from even his camera:

Ace:

Strictly personal preference; most of the most active posters here are known by name to most participants, and (as a matter of good fortune), many here have met each other by fortunate virtue of the magic of the Internet, and the mobility of flight.

If you look at the thread about the Gaston's Fly In, for example, pretty much everyone who attended became acquainted first here at PoA, or on one of a couple of other web boards.

Pilots of America can claim one married couple, met through the board (and yes, both pilots).

Watch, you'll know who is who.

As for me, I am called "Spike Cutler," because... well, it's my name.

Thanks for the message! A married couple that met on the board?? What a nice claim!!

Not really. Just the nature of forums and people on the internet. On the BeechTalk forum (emphasis is Beechcraft planes) they require you to use your real full name to register and display.

Oh ok, make sense!

It is probably difficult for an actor to comprehend that some of us don't want to be in the public eye, or be visible on this kind of forum. I have nothing to hide, I just don't want somebody to google my name (I'm a business owner) and see my posts here and maybe comment on the fact that i shouldn't be flying (dangerous hobby in the minds of many out there unfortunately thanks to the disproportionate media attention to small plane accidents). Like others have said, it is a personal choice.

I can't speak for ALL actors, but it's not hard for ME to comprehend at all. To each is own. There a plenty of actors who are selective about what they share publicly as well. Thanks for answering!

If you don't have one yet, let me know. I'm sure I have at least a ball cap, if not an XL polo shirt. Just send me a "Private Message".

Thanks Grant! I was message by another pilot who asked for my addy, sounds like they might be sending a cap my way. Wish I could fit the xl polo, that would be great! Thanks again!

Ace is a name that some pilots have been given or used too... How did you come up with it? Um, your parents met in a casino and you are the first born? Just kidding, but I am curious about the moniker.
If you ever come out to west Texas I'll take you for a flight in the mountains.. Google big bend Natl park and you'll see where I live.

Haha, I didn't even realize that!! Lol
I wish I could say it was my birth name, but you guys wouldn't believe my real name if I told you.

I will DEFINITELY let you know if I find myself out that way, sounds INCREDIBLE!!

It was an open box crappy camcorder from long gone Circuit City. I purchased it during the dark ages (pre iphone era )

Lol, I could tell! Still a good camera, with built in stabilization I might add :nono:

I don't use my first name because it is so unique. You can google my first name, and at least through the first 10 pages (I stopped counting after 10), the links all are about me, including business address and employer. I just am uncomfortable with my name out there on message boards like this one. I prefer a certain level of anonymity in my posts. If I meet you in person, that's a different matter.

Makes sense! Now I'm curious lol

I have given my last name to those I meet in person, but I don't post it online. This thread started by someone finding me through "Valium" and "Pilot" which just shows how powerful Google is.

I have gone to great lengths (facebook, here, etc) to not link anything personal with anything work related. I found out employers (when you are job hunting) often look to the internet first and read up on people. I'm not doing anything wrong but I don't want to be a click away.

I have ways that I prevent the above from happening. At the same time, Kimberly is my real name and I use my real location etc. So I'm sort of anon.

There she is! The reason I'm on this site! Very true! I actually figured your case was a similar reason everyone was hush hush. But I wanted to ask :)

Haha, well I must say, I AM surprised you show a pic to begin with. Like some others on here, they are TRULY hidden! Not surprised someone found ya ;)

Hmm, sdflyer has me wanting to consult google again ;)

As someone who has a rather, shall I say, unique name (at least in this country), you got me curious now:rolleyes:

I've been using computers for 32 years.... I'd BETTER be good at it!

Coming up on 42 years here but after my first taste (IBM 1130 with 360 access), I found them so addictive that I steered clear until the late 80's.

This could work both ways, I'm sure we could all use some acting tips too. Like when the FAA does a surprise ramp inspection. How do I learn to cry on cue?

Dig for gold and pluck some nose hairs out with your fingers.

It's a glamorous life, isn't it? Heh. ;)

HAHA, right. It always seems glamours on screen...but hardly ever filmed the same. It's like kissing/love scenes. Everyone always is curious about that -- the least intimate thing you could ever do in your life.

30 (if you are on a TINY film) people watching you, shouting directions for their specific area of the process...nothing natural at all, lol

Looks like Obama may be stopping our flight from happening next week, because he may be flying back into Los Angeles area. Waiting to hear back to see if this is the case. Hope I still get the chance!

Also, got some great feedback on the script for the scene I'm in the cockpit preparing for takeoff. Suggestions for dialogue & hopefully a demonstration for procedures soon!

LOVING this movie, btw. Thanks for the suggestion, everyone!

I just want to go sit at the airports now and watch everything going on. Probably will take a couple of trips soon on my own.

How is everyone's weekend thus far? Any cool stories from the air?

Spent the day with the glider club yesterday, spent the day with the family today.

But no really cool flying stories.

Family time is always the best kind of story you can have :)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY gents!

Father's Day weekend is always the weekend for the Olympic Air Show at KOLM. And, as usual, I spent the weekend on the flight line helping push planes around, crowd control and generally enjoying getting closer to the action than the regular crowd can do. And I will pay for it for a few days as my left ankle really doesn't like the abuse. Oh well...

First picture is the museum's P-51D firing up for a ride. The second is of the Navy FA-18E Super Hornet that was at the show all weekend. That plane is LOUD. We got some complaints over that one. I hope it is back next year. Finally, we had a jet powered race car that put on a show a couple times each day. Raced airplanes. And, until this afternoon when the P-51 beat him, he was winning.

The only thing that could have been better was, as usual, the weather. Ceilings weren't much over 2000 feet, so that limited some of the acts. But, we had a good time. I'm looking forward to next year.
