New Secretary of Transportation - who is she?

Elaine Chao has been announced as the president-elect's Secretary of Transportation. Since the FAA rolls up under her, I'm interested in knowing more about her. Most of the google links I can find are all about the announcement. I know she was Transportation Secretary under G. W. Bush and she has been a Labor Secretary too.

Can anyone help fill in the blanks? What does she stand for aviation wise and especially GA wise? Anything positive or negative stand out?

Aren't she and Nikki Haley both female Asian-Americans?
It may be political payback for campaign support but looking at his other picks, that obviously is not a litmus test.

Just another connected republican,so much for the swamp.
 
Well, she was deputy secretary of transportation. DOT is mostly a money shuffling enterprise, not a bad thing to have someone in there who 'knows how all of this works'. Her background is in maritime, not aviation, roads or rail, but that's certainly not a disqualification.
 
Great. What is her position in aviation and GA.
