I just wanted to let this group know, that after several months of research, I have published a new aviation app called “Airport Courtesy Cars”, both in Google Play and the Apple App Store. It has over 1000 listings nationwide in text format and on a Google map. Ability to tap the phone number on the app to call ahead and check on your car’s availability. I will be offering coupons from local restaurants and other attractions to the listings that will offer discounts to pilots flying in. If you know of a particular café etc that you would like me to contact, please shoot me an email on the app. I hope you find it useful.

<---- first to download the app.

Add KPEZ

Pleasanton Texas

They have a courtesy car.

Pretty sweet app, can really help plan your next 100$ hamburger visit.

Will check it out.

I don't think we have one here at 11R.

Edit in: Slick application. The map mode is great. Working good on an S5. :)

And just to add a tip to using the app. In the list of states section, you can click on the phone numbers directly to call the location. In the map section, you can do the same, but give the location a few seconds to load and the phone number will change colors and you can call then by tapping on the number. It is a Google Map thing. Thanks again. Glenn

Can't find the app ,on my I pad.

Never had trouble finding an app before but I got nothing. Used your exact search and nothing comes up.

On your phone and not iPad? no one else is having a problem, and I just double checked it and it comes right up in the app store.

I copy/pasted Airport Courtesy Cars in the google play store search bar and it popped right up. :dunno:

You can install an iPhone app on your iPad.

Change search filter from the default of "iPad Only" to "iPhone Early" to find the app.

Nothing pops up on Google Play Store at all using my Nexus 7.

It shows up when using my Samsung Galaxy S5.

excellent -- accurate at my home drome... crowd sourcing from the community should fill the gaps soon.
good work

My Nexus 7 tablet can't find it, but my Nexus 5 phone finds it without a problem.

Like we said above, it is only on iPhone and Android phones, but some folks manage to change their settings to get it on the iPad......

It IS there in Google Play, but says it's incompatible with my tablet

Yes, as previously noted, it is for phones only even though the app store may say it is for tablets, we are working on that for the future.

Kind of odd that both the Nexus 7 and Nexus 5 are android machines. Oh, well. It's mostly magic anyway, and magic isn't meant to be understood.

Some folks have posted on another site they changed the settings on their iPad and downloaded the app. This worked for me also, just changed the drop down menu from iPad apps to iPhone and the download worked fine...

Thank you for the app, Glenn, and thanks to others who posted the workaround for iPad downloads.

I already checked and our local airports are correctly listed on the map. Sweet.

If I may suggest, support for landscape mode would be useful (it really doesn't take much to do it in the app).

Thanks again, will be using it in the future for sure!
Lou

Hey I can't get it to work on my tablet! Jk. Got it up and running on my phone just fine. Are you planning on adding anything for known airports that don't have a courtesy car?

Again, not designed for a tablet, may work on that in the future, although again, you can make it work on an iPad. Will look into the portrait mode as requested above this post.

I know that's why I said Just Kidding. Hehe.

Just t get back to you, I did check on the landscape mode as I agree it would be useful, and the app people say they can't do that at this time, not sure why. I will stay on them about this.

Step by step on how to get it on iPad... The wording of the App Store is misleading, in that it says, "iPhone Only". What they mean is the App is only released as an iPhone app, but iPhone apps have always been compatible with iPad. There's a "stretch" function to make them pseudo-full screen, also.

Still using and enjoying this great app. I think I got a new one to add ....

KFAM (Farmington, Missouri) has two Ford four door courtesy cars if you're still taking PIREPS here. Just used one the other day on the way back from OSH.

Now if you would just invent a "hot food on the field" app, or something like that, or incorporate on-field restaurants into the car app that would be killer!

Thanks pal, I actually had that one listed already but did not know they had 2 cars so I updated the listing with your info.

I am subscribed to this thread so I will get the PIREPS, or a more direct way to get me is at: airportcars101 "at" gmail.com, either way.

Thanks for the support of the app, it currently has over 1500 listings and still growing. I am all ears if you find a mistake or an update on a listing.

To keep the app going, I gladly accept any donation, offer FBO's upgraded listings in exchange for a fuel discount for us pilots, and accept aviation related ads if you know of anybody that may be interested. I am committed to keeping this app free for pilots. Thanks again, Glenn

I thought I remembered something about an app like that. When I went to the app store to download it, it didn't say "get"; it said "open". So I must have installed it before and forgot about it. How can I find out if I have the current version?

One comment though, on the map when I touch an airport (DAB) the information box that comes up is a dark grey/almost black. When the phone numbers turn blue, they are almost impossible to read against the dark background.
