I purchased a Cirrus 5 back in 1979 for under $1K. Back then, it did not have an engine, no avionics, no parachute, no landing gear, no fuel tank, etc. It did not go fast, but it had a real low stall speed. They sure have come a long way since then...

The 200 pounds greater useful load is pretty neat.

Too bad they still look silly with the gear stuck down.
