Need Comments on New Proposed Rules from FAA

Some one enplane how this rule is going to effect airports already certified.

It's a change to certification rules.

OKH is already certified, no fence, no ramp, no security.

Nope. It was extended to March 7.

I'm involved in some of the pilot programs on this. It will have some fairly sweeping implications for airport operators, but will be fairly transparent to airport users.

EDIT: The SMS NPRM was extended and that's what I was referring to. I've not gone through the original poster cites.

What I read was a bit vague, but the gist I got was that before people were allowed out on the ramp and driving around, they required some unspecified level of training (an airman's certificate covers this) or an escort. If this is the intent, I'm all for it, anything to keep idiots from doing stupid things and costing me a prop strike and having to clean their bits and pieces off my plane when they get in my way is good.

The NPRM pertains to airports certified under Part 139. OKH does not have a Part 139 certificate.
