The original "I don't know it all" of aviation.
After I drop the "outbound" dogs in Liberal, Kansas, I am picking up some dogs to take back to Denton in the Amarillo area.

Anyone have an advice about KAMA? Any Fees? What FBO to use? That sort of information.

A couple of years ago my buddy and I skipped KAMA and flew into KTDW for an overnight. At the time fuel was a lot cheaper than KAMA, and it looks like it still is: as of 1/10/14 100LL is 5.78 at KTDW vs. 6.55 at KAMA.

If memory serves one of the nearby hotels had a 24-hour shuttle (I believe because there's a lot of railroad traffic at odd hours?) so they came to get us when we called after landing. Unfortunately I can't remember which hotel that was - sorry!

Watch out for P-47 to the NE of both airports. Surface to 4800. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantex

Karen and I stopped at Amarillo on the way out and the way back from Page, AZ in our Sky Arrow.

Don't recall the FBO or fuel price, but there was a free shuttle to a nice hotel.

We spent an extra night there due to high winds in the mountains, and the hotel shuttle took us to a restaurant and movie theater and then picked us up.

Nice people.

I flew to Tradewinds a few months back, great service at the beautiful new FBO. They were building a restaurant there, too, may be open now.

I prefer Tradewinds, just because it's not as huge as the big Amarillo airport. I've had good friendly service at both places.
