Is there a good brand out there that does not have sugar in it? I think jerky should be peppery. Maybe piquante. But not sweet...ugh!

All the commercial brands just suck. Meat market? Our farm stores also sell local jerky.

Opa's from Fredericksburg, Texas.

I don't like sweet jerky, either. I buy it from a local farmer when she makes it.

I should just make my own, actually, but it's easily obtainable from the farmer and I like supporting the local economy. That's the same reason I don't grow my own vegetables.

Spike mentioned places in Fredericksburg. Used to be a. Place in San Antonio, too. The best is homemade, though.

NECROPOST alert!

AHH found a locally available jerky that fits my needs!!
No Man's Land Beef Jerky
Boise City OK

Here is why it is great:
-It is not pre-digested. You have to use your teeth! Chew! Tear! Rip! It takes some time to get it done. It's not the macerated bits of melt in your mouth nastiness that the others are.
-It is not a candy, very little sugar
-It is peppery and tasty.
The salt is a tad high but my body can take it.
The price is reasonable compared to the others at my store.

Biltong is never sweet (yuck), we make it at home. If you can find some, might be a thing to try.

It's not the tough-celery-esque workout you seem to enjoy, though, so maybe not?

My problem with double extra dry jerky is it always get stuck between my teeth.
