I received an offer from the Casinos in Wendover NV for 3 nights at a really low price. The time just happened to be right in time for my wife’s birthday so I made the reservations. We have never been there before and the price was right.
I never thought about the weather:mad2: It is Nevada the desert right:mad2:.
Later my wife asked about the weather .

Here is the forecast for the time we are there
Tue High 33 Low 20 Snow Showers 40%
Wed High 31 Low 19 Few snow showers 30%
Thu High 31 Low 16 Few snow showers 30%
Fri High 32 Low 13 Snow showers 40%

Here is the forecast for MN
Tue High 29 Low 15 Partly Cloudy
Wed High 29 Low 17 Few snow showers 30%
Thu High 28 low 15 Few snow showers 30%
Fri High 27 Low 17 Cloudy

Well it is a little warmer

Well, that explains the really LOW price.:yesnod::rofl:..
Geez, it's a casino, they want ya inside dumping all your money, not outside enjoying the desert.:D

Most of Nevada is brisk in the winter. A lot of snow.

Most of the state is around the same latitudes as Kansas and Nebraska, and it does not benefit from the mild coastal climate like California next door.

Actually, Bridgeport, California is darn cold all winter.

Anyway, next time check out Mesquite.

About the same size and amenities as Wendover, better golf, and equally low prices. And warmer

I take it that you equate "desert" with "hot" (or at least warm).

Well, there's not a damn thing to do in Wendover except go to the casinos, but at least they have an airport. That's not the beach, it's the desert - Except it's not a regular desert. That's not sand, it's salt. Wendover is right on the western edge of the salt flats. If you drive east on I-80 from there, shortly after leaving Wendover there's a stretch that goes 45 miles without a single curve.

Out in the middle of nowhere. At least there's no speed limit on the Nevada side of the line, so you can get somewhere in a reasonable time. I think they have one on the Utah side. And, there isn't much to see or do there. As a friend's hat said years ago, "Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you may be in Utah!"

Don't lose all your money in the casino (although, that's their plan).

Sure everyone knows about Wendover but me:mad3:
As for not much else to do besides casino that is not that big of deal. We were talking about going to Laughlin. At Least Laughlin would be warm.
We are not going to be there real long so we are not getting a car.
My plan is take all their money and buy a plane :D

Uhhh... Yes there is. It's 75. Of course, that still means you can get somewhere in a reasonable amount of time, just not as fast as flying. :D

Shows how long it's been since I've driven across Nevada on I-80. Back in the day they didn't bother with such things. :D

Wendover's nick name is "Bendover", in honor of the incessant winds which blow through the place. Those winds get howling so strongly that you literally have to 'bendover' to deal with them!

To be honest, Wendover is not much more than a large truck stop with some casinos.... and it's funny to watch all the Mormons driving in from SLC to gamble.... ;)
