If one is listed as 3.0, will it be backward compatible with 2.0?
Can it be used in either port, without changing software/drivers?

Good brands...SanDisk?

Anything to avoid?

Yup, had good luck with PNY

Yes.

Not really.*

*Unless you’re crazy and only have one copy of the data. Which you should never do with regular storage, let alone removable media.

What’s the application?

Get one with 2 interfaces so it will plug into your laptop and your phone.

Hey, that link did not work for me....but I will try to google the first part of it, thanks

Yup
Not working for me either. that's what I get trying to do it on my phone.

For USB 2.0 and a quick transfer to another machine, this is a $3 problem. Already spent too much time on it.

Buy three.

If you’re moving more than 16GB, spend $5.

If you’re moving more than $5 will carry, buy two WiFi dongles and make a point to point network. LOL.

This is commodity level tech at this point. USB drives are the new floppy disks.
