Who makes a case which offers superior drop protection and does not have a 'grabby' exterior?
(I want one that will not glue itself to my pocket's interior, such that I can slip it in and out without a life and death struggle.)
I won't add 'low profile' as that is probably pushing the limits on specs too far.

The OtterBox cases offer excellent drop protection, but they increase the size of the phone quite a bit. I tried the OtterBox Commuter, which uses a silicone insert surrounded by a plastic shell, and found it both too bulky and painful to hold up to my ear during a phone call. The OtterBox Defender is even larger.

I ended up with a Magpul Field Case, and I've been rather pleased with it. It won't offer the same protection as an OtterBox case, but it seems to be a good compromise between size and protection. And, it does not stick to clothing.

I like the Otterbox Defender, largely FOR its stickiness. Even as it is it periodically slips out of a pocket.

Maybe just use the inner, hard plastic portion of a Defender?

I like my Otterbox Commuter for my iPhone 5S, and it is NOT grabby in my pocket. It's also not nearly as big as the Otterbox Defender, and fits in my inside suit coat pocket without being bulky.

Lifeproof Fre fits your bill. Have had one on my iPhone 5 since the first week. Only complaint is since it's waterproof it also muffles mic audio a bit. Best to use a Bluetooth device if your choosing, but it works ok even without.

The Commuter isn't "grabby," but it's huge. It increases the size of the phone significantly, and the lip around the screen will dig into your ear if you use the phone as a normal handset. I have no doubt that it provides excellent protection, but that protection requires compromises in portability and usability.

For around $10, the Magpul cases offer decent protection, though I would recommend that they be used with a screen protector film as well.
