NA - Get baby out of our bed

Hey all,

We have a 16 month old who has us trained to bring him into our bed when he cries in the middle of the night. We need to break him of this habit. I woke up this morning at 0430 with him sitting on my head saying dadadada. It's funny as hell, but i'm exhausted. Any suggestions?

Thing1 crawled into my bed this morning. I suspect the last day that happens will be the day I send him off to college :)

One of you stay in his room until he falls back asleep, then go back to bed yourself.

Each kid is different. The "crying back to sleep" doesn't work for all kids. Know your kid. My son, no way. He'd cry for hours straight. The girls? They'd give up after about 10 minutes, and sometimes a good cry is the only way to get the one worn out enough that she'll sleep.

It's you, not the kid. Just don't do it. Don't ever do it. Set a boundary and don't cave. Turn off the monitor or turn it way down if necessary.

We never let our kids sleep on our bed. They could come jump on us in the morning but we never let them stay in there for comfort. Boundaries.

Electric dog fence around your bed. Collar on baby, turn up to Stark Trek maximum stun. It will only happen once.

Have another baby. You'd be amazed how easy it will be to kick the current occupant out once the new baby comes home. You won't even think twice about it. So after contemplating on that bit of truth (and others here will have experienced that), how about skipping the new baby bit and just evicting the trespasser? At most a week's worth of crying and complaining (probably less) and you will have that annoying habit taken care of. Been there done that. So glad to no longer be there. :D
