NA - Credit Card "Parental" Controls

My Uncle is suffering from early dementia, and he has agreed that his wife will oversee his internet use.

It is relatively easy to prevent access to certain sites, but is there software that will allow free access to URLs but prevent a credit card number from being uploaded?

I doubt there is anything that could possibly be that reliable. Wouldn't it be easier to control the card?

Objectively, yes. Subjectively, since this is early dementia, that takes away a lot of independence. It is a fine line to walk. I was hoping for some software that the administrator could load in the cc numbers and then the subject could not enter that number into a website. Still hoping!

Well - either way it'll appear they're being blocked. There are credit cards that offer controls. That way it wouldn't even be approved.
 
I believe that you may be able to work with the credit card provider and disallow online purchases, and require that the card be swiped for a transaction to be valid. That may have unforeseen consequences, however. Talk to the card issuer and tell them the problem - they may have a creative solution.
 
What if you obliterate that 3-digit security number on the credit card so he can't see what it is to enter it?

Not sure, but I think that some of the privacy guard programs may be able to do something like that. No experience with them, though, and they'd almost certainly give the user a way to bypass the restriction, which may not be desirable in your situation. My Google-fu wasn't strong enough to find it, though.
 
Skip you can put limites on the card without taking it away. That will allow independance and mitigate potential damages.
 
I've gotta say that your uncle is still doing pretty well if he can get on the internet and place an order. I know folks who were never able to do that even when they were younger.
