Trim stall yeah? I never really knew what those were until I checked out in a 182 and my cfi had me do a few go arounds to impart how much forward yoke is needed.
Normally you don’t get that pitch action in a 172 but maybe he already had a bunch of trim in?

Plenty of aircraft did their last landing and were never used again - just look at the ramp at most airports.I wouldn’t. I think the rule of thumb is that you need to be able to use the aircraft again.
The other question is will he stick with it.
