Final Approach
A Cozy went down near Mineola enroute from Houston to Paris. I don’t know who was flying, but very accomplished Father and Son Citation pilots perished. They were not only accomplished pilots, but super nice guys who would help most anyone with anything.
Many years ago, I was on my first solo. I was turning crosswind when someone called “Citation 1234 on a five mile final for runway 17.” I swallowed my pride and announced that I was on my first solo. The pilot, in a comforting, Grandfatherly way, said “Don’t worry about us. We will stay out of your way. Enjoy your solo because you’ll never forget it.” It was some time later before I met him and shook his hand. I spoke with him several times since and he was always pleasant to be around and one of those guys that you learn things from in a casual conversation.
Anyone know anything about this mishap?
RIP David!
