Last chance to see Sally Struthers in ALL SHOOK UP - Season Ends October 11!

was the e-mail I received from Ogunquit Playhouse. Well, lemme tell ya; it wouldn't be hard to "see Sally Struthers." WOW! She's a long way from Archie Bunker's and "Meathead's darling "Gloria" of yesteryear. She's now better fitted to personify "Mama Cass" Elliott.

Footnote: Though I didn't see the production I'm told it's terrific.

heh - there was a TV show a couple years ago that my wife/daughters used to watch, Gilmore Girls I think. I saw a few minutes of it once, and she was in that episode. It was a scene where she had to run across the street - so she ran, stopped to catch her breath, ran again, stopped again, started again, and the guy who was across the street waiting for her kept looking at his watch. I laughed pretty hard.

Why on Earth would I want to see Sally Struthers?

Well, she's not that bad an actress. She did win a couple of Emmys, as I recall. And she has managed to do some good for the world, especially for childrens' causes.

But yeah, appearance-wise, she would make a good choice to play Cass Elliot. Oddly enough, several of her pet charities benefit starving children overseas. I would think she'd be a little embarrassed visiting emaciated children given her MGW.
