Just had a little shaking here in downtown LA.

KTLA said:
LOS ANGELES -- A 5.6 earthquake has just struck Southern California and was felt from Los Angeles to San Diego and in Las Vegas. Preliminary information indicates the epicenter may have been Chino Hills.

Residents in Hollywood reported that buildings shook and appeared to last 20 to 30 seconds.

More details coming....

I just saw that on Fox News. For some reason, they were showing LAX during the segment.

Estimates up to 5.8 on the scale. My 52 story office building gently swayed. As an inside observer (i.e. poor reference point) I'd say we moved an about 1 yard laterally. Way softer then those I remember at ground level.

Now a few minutes later we are back to work (mostly) and some of us are wondering about lunch.

Cell phones are no good. Equipment and power is still good (no interruption at all), but they must be at capacity with everyone calling everyone. ATT, Sprint, & MetroPCS are anecdotally confirmed to be busy within my floor.

EDIT:
According to the KTLA newswoman (talking to news copter) - "During an earthquake its best to be in the air."
