Bro do you even lift
has anyone ever flown to it? my parents are in Boynton Beach, looks like I could fly from BCT and avoid anything MIA related. just not sure what it entails, customs, etc..... not to mention I might need my ticket first, but these are minor issues I'm working on.

thoughts?

I have never flown there, I have a bunch of friends that do, one regularly. I believe he does customs at FXE. According to him the winds can be challenging at times. If you need specific info PM me and I will see what I can find out for you.

My father lives in Boyton as well and I fly there from PGD once or so a month. LNA is a nice airport for what its worth.

thanks! I obviously have some time before any of this happens, but I will ping you when it gets closer to GO time!

There is now a whole procedure to fly to mybs and back its just not clearing customs, requires pass port and customs stamp as a start.Have done several of the Islands was always a great trip.

thanks, and prob by the time I'm ready to do the trip, the procedure will have changed again. is it a challenging flight, ie windy like previously mentioned or just depends? good food on the island?

Never had problem with the winds have made several trips to the Bahamas .the food is usually good and the rum is cheap and good.

Well, I live in SC but my plane is at KSAV. I have a buddy coming on on 9/8 we're threatening to go to the Bahamas.... I have an EAPIS account, a CBP sticker, a couple of passports and just might go.

N35, feel free to ping me, I'm thinking I'd like to go.

well I think the first question I need to ask, being that I was just offered a ride on a plane from a pilot I don't know, through a relatively anonymous forum on the internet, is................is it too early to call shotgun?

I think the appropriate response is my round, and I'll pick up the check for dinner.

Unless you are based there, BCT can get a little pricey with fees. LNA is just up the road and a tad cheaper. Bimini is ~50 miles off the shore, so it really shouldn't be that challenging...especially if you have any form of a gps. Heck id make the trip with my iphone with wingx on it.

You can clear at FXE or PBI on the way back and use the same for your departure.

***Here is an exact HOW-TO for the trip which should answer most of your questions.***

I live in Boynton Beach as well and fly out of LNA and FXE. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I used KFPR to clear customs getting back in... Never had a problem,,,

If a pilot cannot find Bimini from the east coast of FLA without a GPS then they need to turn in their ticket... :mad2: IMHO

FPR is great, they are very nice at that customs facility. I just mentioned FXE/PBI since he is out of Boynton Beach, and FPR is 141sm from MYBS.

LOL, yeah, I'm asking more about process/procedures than "how do I fly 50nm in a straight line towards a giant land mass" :)

I used to use fpr when I had a twin, now that I have a small single fxe works better because of the shorter distance.fpr has a great restaurant at the fbo and friendly customs.iI find banyans can be a little sooty.imho
