Well i am done with work now, and have basically nothing to do until college starts again in January. My lil brother and sister have to go to school all this week though, sucks to be them. I was in 3rd grade on Monday having lunch and recess with the brother. He seems pretty tame on the playground which was generally good for my health. It was incredible seeing how 9 yr olds can conserve patches of polished ice for weeks. I saw some wipeouts that would probably make me break a hip but those youngsters just bounced right off a couple of their friends, ran to the top of the hill, and slid back down. I was thinking an ambulance should've been ready and waiting.

Today I was a 1st grader with sister. Apparently the polished ice/snow conservation skills are taught in kindergarten. They had a pretty short run but it had a coefficient of static friction of about 0.001 I tried it once and gloriously ended up on my side with feet in the air. After that i left it up to the 6 yr olds. Then another kid started throwing ice balls at me from inside the jungle gym. I thought about fighting back but could just imagine getting sent to the principals office. 6yr old and 22 yr old in an ice ball fight, and my stepmom is the guidance counselor. not a good idea.

anyway, had a lot of fun and didnt break any bones. plus i lived through another couple days of school lunch.

That's awesome! I'm glad you finally found someone you can really communicate with on a personal level!:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I know your bro and sis will remember you coming to school with them for a LONG time! You're a great older bro! (despite what everyone else says)

I suspect a problem with the height of your center of gravity:rolleyes:

You're a most excellent younger brother too.

Probably perhaps TOny can get an ice treadmill and have run in a direction oposit his direction of slide but constantly matching his speed.......:hairraise::hairraise::hairraise::hairraise:

That is really cool Tony. Is this a program the school encourages or is it you using connections? Schools around here pretty much assume that any male above the age of 18 is a sex offender and therefore should be kept away from kids. It is awful to see the fortresses that pass for schools here. The middle school has tried several times to close the bike path that runs right past the building to keep people away. Very annoying, but I am glad you got hang with your bro and sis.

Cheers for you. Your siblings will likely never forget your visits. Plus, I bet the classmates loved it too. Sounds like you might have enjoyed yourself as well.

scott - the school certainly doesnt discourage it. the nice thing is its a small town so most of the teachers know me, plus my stepmom is a guidance counselor at the elementary school. However, I think they would be just fine with any parent or sibling coming to see their kid/sibling for lunch. The bummer deal is that most kids parents work during the day so they can't come out. Dad spends a couple hours a week volunteering in sisters class, and I usually come out for lunch when I'm home and they are in school. Dad did the same for my older sister, me, and my brother. Its really cool!

I volunteered to teach physics at a country school which was having some staffing trouble last year, and I had to go through the whole background check.

I want to see Tony's report card... Is he truly smarter than a First or Third Grader?

He obviously doesn't run with scissors(sharp objects) but does he share well and get along with others?

Can he color and stay within the lines? Can he paste two pieces of paper together without requiring a trip home to change clothes?

Inquiring minds want to know....! lol

You were probably a teacher's pet. :)

I was delivering to an elementary school a while back and one thing I realized... NONE of my elementary school teachers looked THAT young!

My next puzzle was wondering how a school principle could afford the diamonds I delivered to him. And, where they really for his wife given the environment?
