The last time I used it (the cheapie one) I think I hit a key combo that dimmed the screen. It's still dim (I just turned it on again). Is there a way to brighten it - I imagine control panel, but where?

Thanks.

some computers have a FUNC key (Dells are blue) then two other keys that have a large sun looking icon and a small sun looking icon. The small sun will decrease the brightness and the large sun will increase the brightness. what kind of computer is it. Hope that helps.

Usually there's a FN key in an alternate color by your control key. Pressing that with different function keys (on the Toshiba Tablet I have it's F6 and F7) will dim/brighten your screen.

Usually shutting down and powering back up on AC power will revert to full brightness as well.

Hi

It's an Acer. You guys ROCK - I never saw the little sun (on the arrows). It's back to full bright. I hit FN and the up arrow. I type very very fast and constantly am changing settings on my laptop. The regular sized keyboard is fine but the laptop ones can be a challenge for accurate typing.

Despite the fact that this is an Acer, it has the blue FN key and the sun - does Acer make Dell or vice versa?

Probably have similar component suppliers - so the keyboard may be common

There's also a certain level of standardization. Most keyboards seem to have a white W next to a white Q in the top left corner, too. :-) (I know, I know, I'm being a wise-a$$).

And, such an excellent demonstration, I might add! :D

OK smarty pants. THIS laptop keyboard is set up differently than the other one - so clearly only QWERTY (and the numbers) are standard. and don't even get into the keyboards in Europe...

My pencil is a bit dull, does anyone have any suggestions? :D

Yes, it's real.

These guys are good, remember when I managed to make my screen all turn 90 degrees??

Fun fact: The QWERTY keyboard was developed to put the most common letters on the left hand to purposefully slow down typing because the early machines would jam so frequently.

And the Dvorak keyboard was designed to overcome that. It just never seemed to really catch on. Of course, this means that left-handed people should have a natural advantage in typing!

Everybody is born right handed. Only a select few overcome the handicap.

I'm telling you, it doesn't work for me - I can type really really quickly - but sometimes I randomly hit keys that do weird things - I had NO idea what I was hitting to make the screen darken. Sometimes I hit a key combo that enlarges the resolution - but worse, makes the letters kind of run together too.

Thanks for the info, I have never used the brightness adjustments, I learn something everyday
