Since I the goal of obtaining my ATP and eventual employment in the next 6-8 months that requires ATP privileges, I'll be obtaining my first class medical for the first time in January.

This past year I held a second class.

My questions:
  1. I believe the only difference between first and second class medicals for the over 40 crowd is they wire you to the ECG machine and get a resting ECG strip. Everything else is the same poke, prod, BP cuff, vision, auditory, review of medical history, and whiz quiz. Correct?
  2. For my curiosity, what are the looking for on the ECG? Nevermind... found my answer here and here.
  3. Here at PoA, we frequently preach "know before you go". What's the hive mind say about asking my GP to do an ECG and get his view on things?
  4. I am under a few SI's that have an annual update specification. Since I recently completed my 56th lap around Sol, I know I'll be renewing my first class every 6 months. Will the AME expect me to bring the updated doctor letters and lab reports every 6 months, or every 12 months?
