The original "I don't know it all" of aviation.
Dad was a captain for Braniff airlines until their shutdown in 1982 killed his airline career.

This was his first time sitting in the PIC seat in 35 years, and he hand flew this landing into KDAL. We had been experiencing the automation, but he wanted to do one last landing "old school".

Video was shot at the Continental sim center at KIAH just before they shut down and moved all the big toys to Denver.

So cool! Your dad greased it...well done!

Awesome! Thought I would share the model I have sitting on my desk.

Mike, I'm just curious. Why didn't your Dad get on with another airline after Braniff went out?

Awesome! Landing like a pro.
What did those 4 hours in the sim cost you? Arm and a leg? Or just a kidney? Thinking about going to "have some fun" myself either there or at the sim in Dallas.

Since this is an answer best not put on a public board, will share in person someday.

It's like the mastercard commercial...
$3500 auction bid during fundraiser for AFSC
$450 flying the Skylane with my dad
$250 in food/lodging/rental car

Being able to spend time with my Dad experiencing something that was a significant part of his life
. . . . .PRICELESS!!

Ever thought of making a fake commercial just like that for your dad and/or family? Maybe Br-Y-an can help. (yes, 6PC, I just volun-told you! :D )

Really cool, Mike. Great experience with your pop I'm sure. Thanks for sharing.

I was a mechanic a Braniff, DFW, until they shut down in the middle of my shift, May 12, 1982. They still owe me money!
But it was the best airline job I ever had, went to the dark side (AA) it just wasn't as much fun.
