Movie: Rhinebeck Aerodrome documentary, included with Prime

Finally got there after wanting to for years. Definitely worth a visit. Went for a ride in 1925 Standard I think it was, and the pilot flew in a big lazy circle, and whoa, Eagles, like 4-5 of them and they were, or seemed to be, flying in the same circle. Amazing experience.

Been there a couple of times...It was the first time I saw the "Farmer and Piper Cub" routine where guy wins fictitious raffle for a ride in the cub and winds up accidently taking off in it... Lot's-A-Fun out there

I remember seeing Old Rhinebeck in my Dad's magazines and wishing I could go as a kid. Went there in June this year my wife and I took the New Standard Ride. We flew out over the Hudson did a few shallow turns and dives. There are also a lot of Old Rhinebeck clips in the First Flights Season 1 which is also free on Amazon Prime. I've been binge watching those too.

Watched it last night. Pretty cool. I had never heard of the aerodrome before, so I was quite impressed with it.

I grew up 20 minutes from the place. I saw a lot of great shows! My first GA flight was on a grass strip a few minutes away.

That was a nice view into their WWI collection, but I'm surprised they didn't touch on some of the old planes ORA has. They have a 1909 Bleriot XI they still fly, along with several other pioneer aircraft. And the rotaries really need to be heard.

When I visited a few years ago, they have like 3 big barns/hangars full of old planes in various states, and another museum/gift shop w/ a few displays. If it's a windy day they won't fly some of them. One tookoff while we were there but basically stayed in ground effect due to the wind.

There's another one in Bealeton VA too. Never been but it's been around a long time too.

I grew up not too far from there as well, still haven't been. Maybe next time I go up to 20N...

One of my unchecked bucket list places.

Do It! That place had me wanting to move to Rhinebeck just so I could volunteer and hangout there.

The little town is really nice and has decent wine and some food culture also. Lot's of antiquing to do for the Mrs. too.

We used to go there as kids. Funny though, I have not been back since I started flying 34 years ago. I have to fix that!

The last time I was there (2015), the engine on the Bleriot had worn to the point that all it could do was fast taxi and remain airborne for one or two seconds on a small hop over a bump on the pasture they call a runway. I guess it is time for an overhaul - but where do you find
the cylinders, piston rings, etc. to do that?

I have the Old Rhinebeck box checked several times on my bucket list, and I am glad of that. If you can, go!
