Motorcycle in the back

So I've heard of "toy hauler" RVs (recreational vehicles, not Van's aircraft) that let you throw an ATV or motorcycle in the back and haul it with you.

Do any of you guys do that in your planes?

It would obviously need to be a pretty good size aircraft to carry the weight and load the bike. That just sounds like the ultimate freedom to me! No crew car required. Carry your ground transportation with you :)
 
You'd need something like a Shorts Skyvan or CASA Aviocar to do that.That's kind of drastic, don't you think?

A Caravan could pretty easily do a bike or quad, and would be quite a bit more practical, IMHO, than one of those.

The OP mentioned a Toy Hauler type of RV, most of which are carrying a couple of full sized touring rigs. That's what I was thinking of
 
Centaur once made a little folding scooter. Tucked up into about the size of a larger picnic cooler. Pretty slick, I'd love to see that done with modern materials to cut the weight in half and double the power.

Dr Bahnson posts as "dbahn" on the Purple Board, and has described many motorcycle hauling flights.

At one time I had a Honda Trail 90 with a take apart fitting on the downtube. I hauled it in the back of my 182 (rear seat removed). It was a viable method of ground transportation. However, getting it in and out of the plane was a real PITA. I concluded that I was going to ruin my back that way - and gave it up.

My suggestion is to get a plane with a big door if you want to do that!

There are folding bicycles that have electric motor assists. I suspect that would be the most practical solution. I'd have no interest in carrying anything that smelled like gasoline in the cabin.
 
Not a motorcycle, but I do tote a full size road bicycle in my Arrow occasionally. I have to take both wheels off and snake the frame through the door to get it in, but it will fit.
 
Surprised more pilots don't use kick scooters. The nice ones not the junky kid razors. Guess pilots are mostly out of shape. Quality kick scooters are nicer to use then crappy bicycles. Relatively cheap and small.

I've got one. Its got plenty of power for one rider. I think it weighs about 100 lbs. Here's a link to an enthusiast's website.

Local mechanic hauled himself, wife, kid, luggage and motorcycle from Russellville, AR to Sturgis and back in a Cherokee 6. Had to take the front wheel off of the MC.

Been there done that more that once.... it was a Lance not a "6" but no difference. I also managed to get a love seat into that plane. That was quite a trick.

I have a couple of the Razor A5s with the big wheels (doesn't get hung on pebbles and such).

My GF doesn't like to use them, though, so it is mostly when I travel by myself. Actually most passengers I have asked have not been real warm to using the Razors. The mostly sit in the hangar.

Piper had an ad where they loaded a piano into a PA-32.
