Here is a good one... since it's New Years and people are making resolutions.....:yes:

The FAA recognizes the average pilot, for weight and balance calculations, as being 170 pounds.

Do you personally weigh more or less?

The poll implies that anything beyond the 20lb+ mark is embarassing. I'm 6'3" and 195 with (at the moment) 17% body fat. That's very low for my age group (35-40) and hardly "embarassing", given my height.
 
Im 6ft 6in, and 220lbs. Obviously I,m over by a bunch. Funny thing is at 170lbs I look a little um, thin.:dunno: I'm far from embarassed.
 
5'7" and 20 pounds under.

Agree. 6'0" and 230lbs. If I ever weight 170 I'd look like crap. I could stand to lose some, but I'm happy and not embarrassed. Just fat and happy :D

I certainly would never use an FAA "average" weight of 170 lbs. for W&B calcs. What a useless and dangerous concept in many flight situations.
 
5'11 and currently 168lbs. My weight has been 165-170 for the last 30 years.

Besides the above, I'm a well above average pilot, so average weight has little meaning to me.

6' 1" and right on target. My wife doesn't think I look too bad.:goofy:
 
6' 2" and about 215 pounds. Yeah, I do still need to lose some weight, but that's down from this summer. Still, that FAA 170 pound man wasn't 6' 2", either. Otherwise they would never have certified the C-150. :D

No implications intended.
I just decided to stop numbering after the 20.

Of course, ..... I could have gone on pound by pound up to 500 pounds, or so... but that would have been ludicrous .:yes: ;)

I don't know just how tall the FAA 170 lb. guy was.....
But I'm 6'1" & 175lbs. now, and fly the 152.....:D

My problem with the 150 is legroom. I can't get the seat back far enough. Legs hit the bottom of the panel when I go for the brakes. 4.1 hours total in one and I'll stick with 172s and 182s. :D

GOOD JOB!!!

I'm 6'1" and 217, so I've got about 20 lbs to lose, here - but I'm working on it!! :D
 
I am 5lbs under right now but plan on being 5 lbs over in about months (thanks to a steading lifting regime).
 
When I got out of rescue swimmer school (which must have been the best shape I've ever been in), I was 6'3" and 207 Lbs.

Eighteen years later, I'm 6'2" and 235. My doc says that I should shoot for 220 as a start and then we'll go get a true body fat measurement and set a new target from that. I think the ideal weight based on the generic BMI is 185 or so, but my doctor thinks that's way too low for me.
 
Well at 6'-3" and 135 definately under. I have weighed within 3 pounds of that for the last 30 years plus, don't figure it is gonna change, or would I want it to.
 
I am embarrassed and this year I am going to do something about it. Like the others, I think the "embarrassed" category doesn't really fit. I'm a big guy! Almost 30 years ago I came out of Navy OCS weighing 210 and I looked great. Today I'd like to weigh 230. Well, hell I'd like to weigh 210 but 230 is a much more realistic goal. 'tis a long way down from where I am, though.... :redface:

I left OCS 20 years ago at 180, and am 195 now. At 6'2", I'd like to be 10 less, 180-185 would be more ideal for my bone structure.
 
I'm 6'4" and 260 (down from 270 last month) so I am definatly on the embassing side. When I get to my target of 210 I still will be. Clothes are going to be expensive this year.
 
6'3", 193 lbs, not embarrassed.

The real (and only) question: Do you look good naked, yes or no? The heck with the FAA! :D

5' 11" and 180 lbs.

But I have an unfair advantage. I wear a 30lb. toolbag everyday and work outdoors in Arizona. The summers will get me down to 170lbs. if I don't eat enough.
