Monster Garage premiered on Discovery Channel in June 2002. Since then, Jesse James has led teams that have built vehicles that make beer, do wheelies, shake trees — even transport gorillas.

But all the while, Jesse had a dream: To build a car that flies.

Everyone said it couldn't be done. So, will Jesse and his nine-man team be able to match the Wright Brothers' first flight with a $100,000 Panoz Esperante sports car?

I'd like to see ol' Jesse build a car that actually flys well, out of ground effect, instead of some rinky-dink, half ass contraption like most of the stuff they build but that wouldn't attract the mass audiences & monies he now enjoys though -too much actual talent required on both ends !

I really don't get what the big deal about this thing is other than showmanship hype to brute force an automobile into the air for a few moment. A few people I know were all over this as something great and new until I rolled my eyes and told them cars have already flown in actual flight instead of marginally lifted off deep in ground effect for a moment.

What a load. Two words and a number: Molt Taylor 1959

I'm not sure if the Curtiss Autoplane ever flew but that was almost 100 years ago (1916 IIRC) and the pictures I've seen of it look a lot more airworthy than the monster car contraption.
 
Oh yeah, maybe we forgot to take an extra stupid pill beforehand ! Even the movie critics highly recommend strong doses of those.

They actually did this back in February and hyped the heck out of it then. This is actually the first airing of the show, but they did show all you might remotely be interested in during all of the TV appearances Jesse James did back then.

Media Rule #2: If the audience is brain dead, you can air the same (or very similar) show again and nobody will notice.
