I had my mock oral and checkride tonight. It was another one of those times you feel like you're drinking through a firehose. My flight planning, W&B and weather was good. I need to really brush up on my sectional knowledge. Even though you have a key on each map I can't look up every single thing. Most the ones I got wrong were the one offs, like why are their purple squared off airport signs... things like that. He gave me something they use in their 141 program called a 'Gouge' sheet. This is about 100 questions of items commonly asked in checkrides. Not as in depth as the ASA guide I bought but a lot of answers you should know to pass the oral part. I'm going to hand type it out, research the answers and then post it to this forum. Probably take a few days.
The flying part was about to as expected. It was a terrible day to fly with 10 knot gusts. Things like steep turns, emergency procedures and stalls I have down. He said he would like to see my stalls a bit more 'structured'. For example on recovery first notch of flaps, then at Vx 2nd notch, Vy 3rd notch. I got the 'Maneuvers Sequence Manual' from my other CFI and am going to do some Chair flying and simulator practice to get the sequence for everything down.
Moving forward outside of the stuff above I'm going to fly at least twice a week until I'm nailing everything. I'm guessing at a minimum I'm going to need 5 hours practice... especially soft field take off and landings.
