You’re watching the death of the republic and the birth of a democracy.Three or four decades ago there was a popular phrase: “I disagree with what you’re saying, but I’ll defend with my life your right to say it.” IMHO, that’s the heart of America, or at least what America used to be.
Somehow, today it’s become, “I disagree with what you’re saying, and I’ll do anything and everything possible to stop you from saying it.”

I hope you're joking. Because squashing dissent and only allowing the party line opinion to be heard isn't how democracy works.
Actually, I think the pendulum has started swinging back the other way. For a long time the people who held a dissenting opinion were shouted down and name-called. That is still happening and to an ever increasing frenzy but the recipients have stopped worrying about it. I think the opposition is finally standing up against the whole cancel culture. In the past there is just the lone voice of Rush Limbaugh. Now you have dozens who have filled in for his absence. It takes some time and perspective to see when the tide turns. I think as your average person starts focusing on economic issues like putting food on the table and a roof over their head the shrill voices in the Twitterverse has become more and more irrelevant. University attendance has dropped by 7% just last year and most notably in the liberal arts degree programs. People are increasingly understanding that a liberal arts degree get you nothing but a pile of debt. Males are leading the shift. I read somewhere that in 20 years 25% of all universities will be closed. More and more universities are offering token STEM programs to try and maintain relevance. They've been saying the quiet part out loud long enough for the basket of deplorables to start getting it.
You're not allowed to have or display unapproved opinions at the risk of doxxing, deplatforming, and un-personing.
There is no protection or justice for the deplorable, and its silly to think otherwise.
Honk Honk, welcome to Clownworld!
Pure Democracy don’t work. Never has. That’s we have a Democratic Republic. And it just may be in it’s death throes. There is a concerted effort to take voters out of the equation. In a few States it’s pretty much been done. They. You know, Them. They are tired of spending so damn much money getting the Lawmakers elected who enact the Laws they want. It’s other ocracys that are in their prenatal stage. Auto, Klepto, Oligarch. There’s even a pretty large faction wanting Theo. You’re watching the death of the republic and the birth of a democracy.
