I got a chance to fly to the 100th Birthday of the Mineola-Wisener airport. I got permission to go out past the flight-line for the airshow, which was only two planes, but one was my friend Stephen with SRC Airshows.

Afterward we did some air-to-air work to get some pics with his new iFly logo since they're his latest sponsor. Then we flew over to Wood County Airport for some fuel and borrowed the courtesy car for some lunch. It was a good day!

I learned to fly at Mineola and Mr. Weisner gave me my private check ride.
Is that Stearman one of the ones the Weisners bought in WW2?

Cool! Lupita Weisner is a very nice lady. I don't think that was one of their Stearmans, but there was one there that was. It's not currently flying.

The last time I was there was in the late 80's or early 90's and I found Mr. Weisner on a ladder doing some finishing touches to the last Stearman the he and his brother bought at the end of WW11. There was a group of "kids" watching and helping him. We spoke for a few minutes and I said "Mr. Weisner, if you want to sell this bird...and one of the "kids" said "Get in line, kid"...he was the retired chief pilot of the Delta crew base in DFW...and he was one of the kids.
His airport was a treasure trove of old airplanes...three Bamboo Bombers with trees growing through them, a tri-cycle J2 Cub, and parts and fuselages from a variety of planes. Wish I had been able to get to know him better.
