Late notice, I know. Anyone up for something?

Couldn't today as the wife took me to see Avatar 3D at the Imax. Great movie.

However, I do have the plane for next Monday (Martin Luther King Jr day). Hopefully the weather will be good.

Hmmmm...
I don't know if I have the 18th off, but if I do, maybe I'll do a flight and take the commercial knowledge exam, too!

Man I would have loved to. But the new Right engine is half-hung.

Don't worry Bruce, by the time it's done it will be well hung. And if it's not, I get daily e-mails I can forward to you that promise to help! :)

Some of us aren't in government work and don't get stupid holidays off.

One of these Sundays you guys should fly to Iowa City. We'll pile into our hotel courtesy van and drive somewhere for lunch.

I'm not a gambling man, but our new casino has a terrific Sunday brunch. It's not cheap, but, hey, it's got a chocolate fountain... :yesnod:

282.6nm is a long way for lunch.

I'd better check to make sure I"m even still current in the rental planes!

Depends on what you fly... :D

That's a 2-hour flight in our Pathfinder. From Iowa City, I've flown to Kansas City, Minneapolis, Chicago and St. Louis for lunch. Of course, we do that in summer, when it's not getting dark at 5 PM...

We flew the 'Coupe to Milwaukee for a fly-in brunch once. That was a LOOONG day of flying...

You forgot about the 40-60kt headwinds. ;)

3 hours one way for lunch...

38D is a nice place in NE Ohio. Cheap fuel, and you taxi the nose of the plane right up to the restaurant.
Well, if you thought 282.6 is a little long for lunch, I'm looking at 344.5, and Jay would be something even worse. :( Afraid I couldn't make this. I'm thinking of something roughly in the area OSH-CID-SPI-VHP-FWA-GRR-OSH

38D would be good for me, but I doubt too many others. Can't say that I've been there.

LOL, I wasn't suggesting it for everyone, but for Michael, its preactically in his back yard. Stopped there on the way to Wings - and on the way back. Good food too. I think it's 225 for me, so it's on the edge for my lunches.

How about KSBM - Sheboygan. I haven't tried that new restaurant yet.

What about JXN?

I've heard the restaurant is good but never been there.

It's ok, nothing amazing. Then again, all I got was stuff from the deep frier when I was there. I think that flight might get my oil partway up to temp. :D

Heh. Good luck finding something that's not from the fryer!
Actually, I've had burgers (seemed like pre-made, frozen patties), omelets, and sandwiches - all unremarkable greasy-spoon fare. Although, I do believe the french onion dip I got with my chips a month or so ago was hand-made with Lipton soup mix.
I love a good greasy-spoon, but I don't get the feeling anything at Jackson (but the dip?) is made with love. Let's just say, it's no "culinary destination." The best thing about it is the view of the ramp and runways.

Definitely good! We'd be up for it! (Leslie said she can make it too!)

I was going to suggest KDPA, since they'd be open on a weekday, but I don't know that you'd be that interested in just taxiing to the other side of the airport! :)

Well, it's only 60nm for me...if I was here...but I won't be. I'm currently at 1G1 but plan to go home this weekend and only return on Tuesday.

I'd love to do it if I was here................................

Oh well.

Heck I'll join you for lunch sometime.

Count me in, even if I have to fly from Green Castle! ;)

(For the non-locals, Green Castle to KIOW is 11nm. :D)

I hope to fly to GRR on the 14th to go to an auto auction. I usually park at Rapid Air and use their courtesy car. Maybe we could do lunch at Arnie's?
:blueplane:

I agree about JXN. The last time I was there I had a fish sandwich and had to ask for lettuce and tartar sauce to put on it. As ordered, it's literally a bare filet on a bun.

Sorrento's at 3DA is very good Italian, though I'd have to call to find out if they serve lunch. Parking is available even during the winter at the EAA chapter building. The runway is on the short side (2500 feet with 800 ft displaced thresholds on either end).

KDPA and KSBM are a bit long for me right now. I need to stay close to home for the next few weeks.

I may be in on this too. I would happily skip KSBM. Even though it is real good two of my last three trips had me stopping there for a meal.

I didn't know KDPA had a restaurant, or we you going up to Rt 64?

Okay, so we're set for KSBM - Sheboygan, on Monday, Jan. 18th (Martin Luther King Jr Day). We can figure out a time later.

Hmmm, should we make sure the restaurant is open that day or are they just always open?
