Microsoft's first iPad app...

Thanks for the heads up. Just downloaded it. Initial impression is very good. If it gets too popular, wonder if Apple would have the gall to pull it from their app store?

I would doubt it. The new sheriff's at the FTC and DOJ have shown a marked interest in pursuing anti-trust claims in the Valley. FTC already sniffed around Apple after the Google Voice rejection.

Ah, but Google Voice was never actually rejected - It just took them a year to approve it.

So, when you perform a search w/ Bing, does it simply use Google as it's search engine? I heard that on a radio quiz show a few weeks ago but have no idea if it's true.

MS denied it

Google used the same trick that phone directory and dictonary companies ues to catch copycats. Insert a nonsensical entry and wait for it to show up in your suspected plagiarizers publication.

MS response was that the only reason they may have come up with the same search results is because the keylogging spyware they disseminate onto peoples computers via the most recent IE releases fed the nonsense strings back to them :wink2:.

We do this with the frequency list of Amateur radio repeaters for Colorado from the coordination body too. We know exactly which source those who've never requested reprint permission are stealing it from. Not that it's that big a deal.. ;-)

I seem to remember it being available to users, then not being available to users.

I think that's a rejection, no?

No, when it's rejected, it never becomes available to users in the first place. There's normally a delay of anywhere between 2-14 days between the time a developer submits an app and the time it appears to users on the app store.

The whole thing with Google Voice was highly unusual, and highly uncool.
