The "And..." prefix dates back to when we all flew clapped out old rental planes with ancient, semi-functional tube radios. You would hear everyone's first syllable being clipped off -- and the only transmissions you could hear in their entirety were sent by the guys who started each transmission with either a long click & hold, or an extra, non-essential word..like "and".
Egads, I prolly still use it from time to time. Damn me.
Heck, Mary still says "With you" to controllers once in a while, too...
Oh, and I double-click in response to non-essential transmissions, too. Yeesh, better ground meself...
