The meteorologist from the Dallas-Ft. Worth NBC TV station, Brian James, shared this photo of a mesocyclone that occured during a recent major hailstorm event.

Thought it cool to share with this crowd.

I wonder what's going on to cause the layering? And the lighter bands toward the bottom?

@scottd ... what interesting info could you share with us about this phenomenon (other than don't fly anywhere near them)

That's a ringer for one that hit at Oshkosh during the show a few years ago. Downright spooky watching it approach.
