Purchase is a couple of hours away from me. The pilot and sole occupant was the great-grandson of John D. Rockefeller.

My buddy is a controller is HPN and was working this morning. They have no idea what happened and the pilot did not contact the tower in regards to any issues....

There was a similar incident with a King Air at CRQ a few years ago and the conclusion was that in the quick transition from visual to instruments the pilot simply ended up not climbing.

By the way, for those unfamiliar with the area, Purchase is so close to HPN that when I used to fly out of HPN on a commercial flight, I parked my car at the state college in Purchase.
