I chose engineering for my career while in high school because I liked science and math, and it seemed engineering was a good combination of the two. The other choice was physics but I seemed to do better with practical applications than theory. I wanted to be an aeronautical engineer to start but that was when Apollo was being shut down. Second choice was Electrical Engineering. Got my BS and MS but now I’m doing embedded firmware.

If you get a Ph.D in semiconductor physics, there’ll always be a job for you in Silicon Valley.

The important thing is to follow your passion and get a degree in that area. If you do, you’ll essentially get paid to have fun.

My dad always said, and you so properly point out: "If you can do the math you can do the physics, if you can do the physics you can do the engineering." He was much smarter than I am. MIT - BS, MS, ScD.

yes.....it's indoctrination....more so than edumacation. ;)

Nah. Didn't "indoctrinate" a single student in 35 years. I did try to help students develop the skill of thinking for themselves and making data-based conclusions. The thing about science is it doesn't give a (w)hit about your beliefs. There is no BSing mother nature.

I guess it depends if you are warming or cooling.....or just plain changing. Yes, there is a such thing as junk science. :D
