What would a wood wing Mooney project be worth? $$
It need s the fuselage re-mounted to the new wing, radios, an engine overhaul, paint and interior, tires and a prop.

Is there a market for one after restoration?

what would it sell for?

Dunno anything about them, but I did read that there's a consensus from the old Mooniacs that the woodwings ride better than metal wings.

Controller has one for about $33K, in nice condition, so no you won't make money. You would be better off with a J or K...much higher upside.

There is no market for them per say. People that own them and fly them mostly do so out of love for the plane and it's uniqueness. The M20A does out perform the later B and C models due to the slick surfaces and lighter weight. They are a labor of love. IMO, they are a poor choice as a budget flying bargain, and nobody buying them to "flip" them and make money.

The only reason to buy a wood Mooney, is because you really want a wood Mooney for yourself.

...once you buff out all the boot and butt marks....

Read the ADs that apply to that model. You have got to have a metal tail or the required inspections will drive you crazy. The wing has a lot of continuing inspection requirements. Not many pilots crave an airplane like that. It is a nice airplane in some ways but not very useful.

"If you got it for free you paid too much" or so I was told on more than one occasion when looking at 'project' planes and boats. Years back when I was seriously looking for such a deal I came upon a straight M20 with the 150 & constant speed prop that had been in a hangar that caught fire. Fortunately the only damage the airplane sustained was some skin damage on the outboard RH wing and the top of the stab/elevator- no problem. However the ratty interior was also out and the entire airframe needed paint. AND you don't just snatch a 36' one piece wing off and haul it all home to work on it. After talking to Mark Weibe in Halstead KS about it and the tail AD (he had the fixture to test the vertical fin spar) I decided to buy and restore a TriPacer instead. Still would have liked to have had that Mooney sometimes- the M20C Dad had for a short time was a real cool ride.
