'It's always worth looking at Dan Johnson's articles about the LSA market... the US is steadily catching up with Europe in manufacturing. And, for those who pooh-pooh the LSA market, it's worth noting that 2014 statistics show LSA out-delivered GA single engine piston aircraft by more than three to one!

Light Sport aircraft have a place in aviation but they are losing customers now that BasicMed is here. The GAMA 2016 numbers do not support the statement that 3x SLSA shipped over certified piston singles (worldwide 890 total, LSA about 70 of those including 34 from market leader Cub Crafter).

I'm pretty sure GAMA only reports on GAMA members, which only includes a tiny handful of LSA manufacturers... 'notice there is no VANS, nor nearly none of the European light aircraft manufacturers.
