Looking to rent or buy into an aircraft that can be flown with a Light Sport license.

Right now my only option is a Cessna Skycatcher (C162) at Lanier Flight Center (KGVL) for $140/hour after club membership. I was looked into buying a Rans S12 myself (10k - 20k), but have had a hard time justifying maintenance and hangar costs when I might only be flying 10 hours a month.

I have yet to meet many people in Georgia into light sport, and would love to meet and get to know you if you are. I, supposedly, will be Lanier's 2nd student to get a light sport license, so my hopes for meeting people there are slim.

Right now I am just waiting to take my practical test and should have my license any day now. Supposedly, there is just one DPE that does Sport Check rides.

Hopefully though, I can meet some new people that share an interest in LSAs. Would love to experience flying in different types of aircraft and love to split the costs associated.

The C162 Skycatcher is a great little LSA, regardless of what some of the haters have to say. I did my PPL in it and loved the little plane. Parts may become an issue down the road, but probably more plentiful that some experimental homebuilt LSAs out there. $140 an hour AFTER membership is definitely steep and I would be looking elsewhere.

Good luck!

Who told you that!? I got my SPL there 8 years ago. I personally know several others that followed behind me. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

That's good news to hear. The flight instructor I was with hasn't been there super long.

Fun tidbit, The DPE that Lanier uses for Sport Pilots is in Tennessee, adding to the difficulty of scheduling.

I enjoyed renting the 162 for $90/hour.
