That's pretty sad...putting all that time and money into a plane only to have it burn up.

Glad he's okay though.
 
I have a soft spot for C-120's... Took my PPL check ride in one... Hard gusting crosswind on the runway that day...
It was a fun day - well, except for the DE in the right seat who kept mumbling, "I don't want to die."

Pity about the aircraft, but a happy ending since the pilot survived. The only thing worse than the aircraft burning up after a restoration is the aircraft burning up after a restoration and crispy crittering the pilot and passenger. The aircraft, while sweet, is eminently replaceable. The same cannot be said for the folks riding in it.
