I'm moving into a new hangar and thinking about installing a com base station and antenna. Any suggestions about where to buy a reliable used unit?

If you actually mean a base station where you can transmit as well, that probably is not going to be legal as it's not installed in an airplane - you'd need a separate license.
But if all you really want to do is listen to local traffic, a scanner and a simple antenna is all you need.
Plus the antenna type and setup are much more critical if you're transmitting than if you're just receiving.

If you're a DIY kinda person, I recently pulled a King KY97A from my plane. It works well and can easily be turned it into a base station. Let me know if you want do some horse trading.
