Looking for suggestions for fun car under $3k

Do what I do, just type your price limit in Craigslist and see what comes up.

That's what I do too but then I don't know about some of the cars that'll come up. That's why I come here, to get the opinion of all of the experts!

It doesn't much matter, by the time you're into the $3000 range, everything is pretty much in the same shape.

Does anyone have a good RSS reader they can recommend? I can't find one that will handle a lot of feeds.

Man, I was ready to go to buy a 3000GT VR4 for myself but I see they have a propensity to spin bearings. I don't want a car that's broken more than it's running. :(

Oh, that's just a start. Warped exhaust system, fried clutch, suspension faults, overheating and a host of other issues with the electronics.

That's disappointing. I was hoping for a car to have fun with for a little while and sell it. I'm not interested in rebuilding it over and over until I sell it.

What's the point of owning a "FUN" 20 year old sports car that can't make it out of the driveway? That's not fun.

FUN is packing 6 teenage girls into a $1000 Corolla on the way to a Dave Mathews Band concert. Not being left home or stranded by a POS car - priceless.

The fun of owning a cool (restored) car with a dead fuel pump is that I get to jump on the 1300cc hog and ride that to work instead. :D

And I would definitely not take 6 teenage girls to a DMB concert. Not because I don't care for talentless drugged-up whiny hippies but because that's NOT what one does with 6 teenage girls. And I SURE hope that you meant 18-and-up. :D If so, PM me where and when and I'll be there. ;)

Car's busted so...6 girls on your motorcycle? I'd pay to see that! :wink2:

There is supposedly an open to the public auto auction in Round Rock tomorrow. The list looked like there might be something useful. I might go check it out.

Should be interesting. Most people don't do well at car auctions unless you know how to buy cars (or whatever). Usually people get stupid and way over bid things. That's why most auctions are dealer only.

Yea, I'm not too hopeful. If anything it's a good way to waste a Saturday. I'm not taking anything unless I can steal it. I need to find one of those dealer numbers :ihih:

Have you considered the Wagon Queen Family Truckster?
