Looking for Flight School or Club in ATL area

Moving to the northern suburbs of Atlanta in a month or so. Looking for suggestion for flight schools or clubs with good instructors and reasonably priced aircraft to get a BFR as well to rent from on a consistent basis.

For comparison I was renting 152s for $95 per hour and 172/Warriors for $135 per hour, so hoping to find a place with similar pricing within a 45 min or so drive.
 
I am at Superior Flight School at KRYY. (Kennesaw). Don't know all the rental rates offhand, but they seem to have good availability of both planes and instructors. A lot depends on where in North ATL you are with our wonderful traffic

I am a student pilot and have been a member since August 2017. I really like the way the club is run. There is currently 2 172N-180hp and a 150. I believe we are also in the process of adding a complex(Arrow, I think).

$100/month. 172 $99/hr wet. 150 $75/hr wet. Online scheduling with great availability.

Thanks. Will be in Dunwoody through the end of the year.
 
That puts you real close to PDK. The plus side tons of schools and planes there. On the minus, it’s allegedly busy and a bit more expensive. All second hand, I’ve never been there.

Yeah, not exactly looking to pay prices at PDK.

I second this. When I was in Atlanta I joined this club and really enjoyed it. Although it was 1 172 and the 150 at the time.
 
I'll add a vote for AeroVentures (flylzu.com). We rent their 150 for the young folks in our youth program to train in. John Post, the principle, also provides the instruction for our youth for free. They do not charge Flight time when flying Young Eagles for the chapter either.
 
If you want to fly out of PDK, I found Advanced Aviation had some of the better rates. Some of the PDK flight schools charge crazy amounts.

Also good. Bruce does the training for our Summer Camp “Charlie” group in June. He only charges for the books and fuel.
 
Just wanted to follow up. Planning to start my Instrument Rating in the next 3-4 weeks. Looking at schools/clubs at KRYY and KLZU. Any advantages to training at one airport over the other?

They are both busy airports, PDK is definitely the busier of the two.

Which is more convenient to you?

I did my Private and Instrument Rating at Superior at RYY. Excellent place. I now fly out of PDK in a Baron and SR22s. Both good general aviation airports.

For the Private I'd give RYY the edge just due to the higher traffic volume at PDK. Otherwise its which instructor you work best with.

I'm just about equidistant from both RYY and LZU. Planning to avoid PDK for the time being
 
Two schools at LZU, Advanced Aviation and The Flight School of Gwinnett. There is a club, AeroVentures (www.flylzu.com) that has two very nice 172s, a 150 and a Piper Warrior. They also CFII's on the club. There is a $250 fee to join as an associate member and then $100 per month plus your plan time. Planes are rented wet.
 
I flew with both schools at LZU and later joined the aero ventures club. If I moved back to Atlanta, the first thing I would do is join the club again. I had a great experience and finished my instrument rating in one of their 172’s.
