Lighter Than Air - Sweeeeeet!

Got a call from a buddy of mine yesterday morning asking if I'd like to go on a hot air balloon ride with him as part of the Pottstown Pennsylvania 4th of July Weekend. I think this was the celebration of flight portion as there were 8 other balloons launching at the same time. We had to jet straight up when we first departed due to the close proximity of the other balloons. That was a bit scary, but oh was it cool!

He's a fixed wing and glider pilot and has been flying balloons for about 12 years. It was a blast!

I'm ready to do it again - RIGHT NOW.

That looks like it was great fun. Of course, I think I heard you say something like that in the video! That view in the treetops is definitely something you don't get in fixed wing aircraft!

I saw a couple of those the other day. They looked like they were drifting into controlled airspace, and I wondered if they had transponders.
