LHC: "The Most Exciting thing since Einstein"

Oh, what will they learn?? I hope they don't recreate the Big Bang, as speculated... that could just ruin everyone's day. :-)
The result of destroying the world is just pure conjecture. Remember Enrico Fermi also was taking side bets when the fired off the first atomic bomb that it would set the atmosphere on fire and destroy the earth.

I dunno...I feel like I woke up in an alternate universe today. :goofy:

Just remembered this XKCD Cartoon from a while back....

I remember posting something about the Large Hardon Collider a few years ago. I was super excited then, but it took so long, I lost interest. Gotta go back and study it again to get stoked!

I think you posted about the other LHC (Lake Havasu City), and somebody on that thread thought it was about the Large Hadron Collider.

Note, Nick, it's "Large Hadron", not "Large Hardon"....

We're all gonna die!!!
well. it is true. probably not from the collider though.
Although the theory of generating black holes is a cool one.
Anyone read that fictional book about some particle that was zinging in and out of the earth's core over and over, picking up a little more mass each time, and as it grew it would eat up more and more of whatever it passed through? that was kool.

I think Niven wrote a story about a man killed by a tiny black hole. They'd found an alien gadget and one guy posited that it held a tiny black hole in captivity. This other guy didn't believe him and his last words were "prove it!". The autopsy found a millimeter-size tunnel from his head to his feet, with heavy tissue distortion around it.

A few of his 8-12 mistresses thought differently...

Different strokes. Remember that Marilyn loved brainy guys and married Norman Mailer and Arthur Miller.

I just watched Kathy Griffin go gaga over Woz (who emailed her saying she was funny), saying it's hot to f geniuses. She watched him play Segway polo. She even tried to hook her up hot friend with one of his geek friends. In the end she couldn't get over the geekiness, besides which Woz couldn't stop talking. I think he was nervous. To her credit, it was mostly her friends who were talking about him being a billionaire. They ended the show saying Woz was engaged a few months later. :dunno:

That is freaking hillarious!

I'm not clicking on it (yet), 'cause I'm assuming it's NSFW.

P.S.--And don't tell me it IS safe for work, Spike/Kent/Tony/Nick, 'cause I'll think you're just setting a trap to get me in trouble with the folks at work who monitor the firewall violation records!!

You are wise, young grasshopper.

It's not so bad but you don't want the graphic flying by Aunt Blabby's screen.
