I am stateside for a few weeks and was looking for a place to fly from Central IL. It looks like weather will be real nice on Saturday. Anyone feel like flying up to Price County (PBH) and having lunch at the Harbor View? It's 3 hours for me (I like time building) and only an hour from Minneapolis or Madison.

I know last minute....but something to do if you're up for it.

You’re planning on traveling back in time? o_O

:D

Maybe Saturday, August 10th? ;)

Hmmm... I'm interested, if you in fact meant August 10th. Might want to edit the thread title if you did. ;)

It's probably worth tagging folks in the area too so that they have a better chance of seeing it.

Our last Wisconsin meetup was arranged in this thread, so I posted there to get people's attention. Might be worth tagging some folks though...

And you never know, maybe @bbchien . I will be picking my dad up at 1C5 so the doc could outpace me up to PBH.

Sorry, I’m gonna be at the best beer fest in the country.

Grey taste of the Midwest day.

Not sure if i can make it. Digging the fuel prices!

I'm actually in Madison, now, so I might be able to make it!

Right now my plan is to be at PBH at noon on Saturday with my dad. My Archer is slow so give or take 20 minutes on winds.

May not have plane available. And if available, needs IFR recert done. Not sure what wx is Saturday for a ~600nm flight. (r/t)

Weather all day across WI, IL, MI and most of MN is VFR with clouds at 6000 or better. At least according to Windy.

Damn, I’ll be a day late. I’ve got a trip to Eau Claire Sunday through Wednesday.

Forecast has added some afternoon convective activity so will have to watch the forecast update this afternoon.

I think that's the standard "April --> September Every Day in the Midwest there might be a TS so we'll cover ourselves on the prog chart" forecast. The GFS MOS doesn't show any possibilities over WI for tomorrow..

As of right now, I'm a weak maybe... I may need to be back home and then go over to Baraboo by 4 which would pretty much kill the idea of arriving at noon and having any meaningful time there. I may have to just hop a few minutes down to East Troy for breakfast instead. :(

No worries. I will be there whether anyone else shows up or not. Might get rained on heading back south but the plane could use a wash.

It is kinda strange. The GFS shows Madison staying dry and the ECMWF shows a bunch of rain hitting. Go figure. So far the trip still looks doable.

Not sure anyone is making it but that’s ok. My dad and I will land at PBH around noon and be at the Harbor View. I am in a white and tan Archer (see avatar).

Sorry I didn't make it today... my passenger was a "first time and nervous" flyer, so I wanted to keep it short and simple. (Lone Rock for breakfast)

BTW, Waunakee Airport (northwest of Madison) is having a pancake breakfast on Sunday the 18th... Note: this is NOT a fly-in thing. It's a drive-in thing. The airport only has one tiedown parking place, and I'm occupying it right now, but even I will be kicked off of it for breakfast setup. :)
I may or may not be giving a slideshow presentation about my trip so far.

No, that is a fly-in thing, believe it or not. Well, kinda. It's probably not really promoted as such because there isn't much parking, and no paved parking, but they will put some airplanes in the grass south of the runway, and there are a lot more that are being exhibited as well - Say hi to my flying club while you're there, they should probably have a plane or three present. And sometimes the ANG flies a Blackhawk in there for the event. They'll also be giving a crap-ton of Young Eagle rides there. It's a good event.

I will be landing in Germany on the 18th. Have some pancakes for me!

The flying was good today. About 7 hours in the books. First time my dad went flying with me.

Ugh I didn't see this tag! Oh well I still couldn't have made it. Last two IR lessons before checkride . Hope you still had a good time!
