I've got a KR 86 that until a few weeks ago, worked perfectly.
Symptoms:
Powers on.
Lights up
TEST button makes the needle spin correctly
But - in ADF mode, does not point to the local ADF which is 5 miles away.

Anyone got any ideas?

Corroded wiring? I’m currently working on an issue with my HSI working fine in vloc mode a few weeks ago, to not working all of a sudden (no flags, just not working). I haven’t taken it in yet, but signs seem to be pointing to the connection between the gps/nav/comm and the HSI. Maybe since the unit thinks it’s working fine, but displaying incorrectly, something needs some new wiring or soldering?

If you know someone who has one, swap them out for a test. Unless you really like listening to AM radio.......

Sounds like the internal tests are fine. Perhaps corroded/failed antenna connections?

I’d start with something simple. Do you have proof that the NDB is working? If not, then you need to do that first. Another thought is to use an AM radio station that you know the location of the transmitter.

Yes, both the NDB and a local AM station are working. I can tune my AM radio to the NDB. Trying the corroded or disconnected antenna idea next,

Winner winner! I was grounded until Sept due to knee replacement. On aug 31, the NDB was OTS permanentaly, and I didn’t know, and the shop obviously didn’t pay attention, either. I checked thr NOTAM today to discover it. Tuned in another NDB, works perfectly.

It’s nice when the fix is simple!
