These are a few pictures of my neighbor Kimberly the chipmunk. She's learned that the seeds are in the cup, and today she got bold enough to just climb in there and help herself.

Probably not well-enough focused to sell as stock (I didn't have my glasses on), but kind of cute, nonetheless. I have some more that are better-focused that I'll submit to the stock companies.

I did get Kimberly's release, by the way. I told her the seeds would keep coming if she let me sell the pictures. She winked to let me know she was okay with that.

I've never seen a chipmunk wink.

Nice pics Rich.

Watch it. Kimberly likes your nuts.

Not exactly what I was expecting, but very nice.

I thought was gonna be a thread on Kimberly getting her wisdom teeth pulled.

Thanks.

I find photographing the animals to be very therapeutic. It helps develop patience.

Although chipmunks are pretty friendly, anyway. I have a theory about that. I think some prey animals size up individual humans, who they know to be predators by nature, and hang around with the ones who show no culinary interest in them. I think they figure the human will keep the other predators away.

Or maybe they just like the seeds...

Funny looking squirrel.

I've never had the pleasure of seeing a chipmunk before.

Well, that can work but some folks aren't quite that adventurous. ;) But since you mentioned it he does seem to have a pretty good nose for a deal.

I just let a certain Dallas lawyer find mine.

I found this little surprise in our pond this morning. Took the picture with my 90 power spotting scope and my phone. Better quality pics to follow.

I found this little guy and some of his lady friends in a field. Took some pics with iphone and spotting scope.

So close! You could have had a wonderful dinner!

I don't believe I've met anyone who eats chipmunks... Some of the local rednecks eat grey squirrels and red squirrels, though.

You probably could sell that to an outdoor magazine. Stock companies would find too many technical problems; but if you were lucky enough to find an editor who's not anal (rotsa ruck with that) and who put it through for approval, I bet it would be a good seller.

Somehow I thought there would be pics of our Kimberlyanne546 here... photoshopped with chubby cheeks and maybe a tail.

We've got chipmunks like that, but they live in fear of the dog and cat, so I would never have the opportunity to take their photos.

I've never thought of naming them -- maybe I could name one of them after a PoA poster. The downside is that I'd feel I have to announce its demise after the cat got it.

Here is my favorite pic I took a few winters ago.

No, it is not photo shopped or altered in any way.

Kimberly was named after my youngest goddaughter, because neither of them ever stand still.

Ring necks! Would you believe I saw a beautiful ring neck running around in the sand at cape lookout, nc last summer. They were released by the in 80's and 90's and still live out there. Nice birds.

Thanks Rich, even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while.

Ring necks use to be like fleas on a hound around here back in the 70's & 80's. Now, not so much. Very rare to limit out hunting. Several theories as to why, but now turkeys are taking over.
