I have a friend of mine that was planning on flying his SR20 to the Outer Banks (NC) this upcoming weekend. Knowing that five day forecasts are barely more reliable that Ouija Boards, it is *not* looking good this weekend. He's instrument rated, and could likely get in, but it's just going to be him and his 5 year old daughter and he's not looking forward to sitting around the beach house looking out the windows at the rain.

That's where all of you come in. If the forecast doesn't change, he'd love some great ideas for "plan B". He was planning on putting around 14 hours on his Cirrus, so there isn't really anything out of reach for him. He was considering New Orleans as a possibility, but he would love kid friendly ideas for places to travel and stay. For him, it's as much about the journey as the destination, but it's just the two of them on a father/daughter trip, and he wants to make it special for her.

Help!

Wisconsin Dells.

Couldn't get more family friendly and tons of things to do. Not just "one" attraction, an entire city worth.

2nd. for Wisconsin Dells. There is also a casino in Baraboo, WI that will pick you up from the airport. They might have a cheap hotel to stay at too, I'd look into it.

If they can make it out this way at all, Carowinds (in Charlotte) is a great place for the family to go.

But, if they make it that far, they'll probably make it out to the OBX.

That looks pretty cool, but I'd imagine you're correct. If he's already that far, he'd probably just go to his original destination. But I may put it on my bucket list...

I've been to Carowinds...it's no Cedar Point however.

Thanks, everybody. Keep 'em coming. Also, I failed to mention that they don't need to be close to the airport. If he can get his hands on a rental car, that's great.

What is around you that would be a lot of fun for a 5 year old?

Never a better time to go to the beach...

...and no better hosts than Jay and Mary Honeck, at the Harbor Inn Port Aransas (soon to be renamed, "Amelia's Landing"), youR aviation-themed resort motel on beautiful Mustang Island, Texas.

Easy access via KRAS, and with advance planning, you might even get the Official Airport Subaru.

Spike says, "Check it out!"
