Kentucky Dam POA Fly-In Video's

....As everybody found out at Kentucky, I don't really know any Celine either, lol.....

Nice try, bud. You pretty much did all of Celine’s greatest hits on an acoustic guitar. Just cause you don’t remember it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen!

Eh, I figured you didn't mean any harm there.

Rock n Roll! As everybody found out at Kentucky, I don't really know any Celine either, lol. In fact, I don't know much of anything without my phone on my knee with chords pulled up, which the Kentucky crew also found out. There was often a pause in the music, accompanied by me telling the wife (or @Radar Contact at one point) to scroll, lol!

Hope you or y'all can make it down. We could use another ol' Skylane on Cessna row.

Don't forget that every song you added your own lyrics when an unexpected chord change happened.

You got me there.

Hey, it was dark, I was drunk, I was playing songs I didn't know previously, on the fly, solo, in front of people. That's what you get.

Are those excuses? Those sound like excuses. Have none of that, we will!

Gaston's... hmm...

Y'all need a wake up call there I reckon.

Of course. Then one of us will come get you at Mountain Home. :)

The plane itself is perfectly capable of landing at 3M0. The pilot is the question.

Yeah, but we've known that to be the case since we first met ya!

Good point. Also the MU-2 ain't an Aztec. Really comes down to getting more proficient with flaps 40 landings and short field (flaps 20 is the norm, and so are long fields). And having appropriate fuel load (keep in mind full fuel is about 2,000 lbs).

And nobody is flying it through a lake like @tonycondon did with my Aztec.

Does the MU-2 have beta? If so, can you land Gastons without beta? I'd think you wouldn't want to FOD the engines with all the crap that would be kicked up there.

There's beta (flat pitch) and then full reverse. I would absolutely use beta, but I wouldn't necessarily want to use full reverse. You are correct that full reverse kicks up a lot of FOD. Really, beta by itself stops you really well. My normal procedure is to land and then engage beta to some extent.

During training we did a flaps 20 landing at a 3200 ft strip and were stopped by halfway (that included reverse). However that runway didn't have the trees that Gaston's has.

Like I said - the plane can do it. The pilot doing it is the question. I have close to 50 hours in the plane and by no means would I say I've mastered it. Comfortable, yes. Master, no. Right now 4,000 ft is my personal limit for a runway I'll choose to land at.

Because of some procedures that changed a couple decades ago (Vref on flaps 40 is now 1.5 Vso instead of 1.3, flaps 20 is 1.3) the actual published landing distance for flaps 40 is slightly higher. But flaps 40 gives you a much steeper angle of descent than flaps 20.

Take it any way you like EddyFreddy. However, I will be playing a fair amount of guitar between now and Gaston's so hopefully I can avoid saying "sh*t, scroll."

@Dave Theisen I do generally try to avoid wearing pentagrams and other satanic mens wear, but thanks for thinking of me.

You just need a set list man. Lol. I play too and theres no way I can play a new song as quick as you switched. But if I make Gastons I have an app on my tablet that will scroll the chords for ya if you wants to play new songs on the fly.

Ha. Except I can't sing for ****.

I missed it... can you or @CC268 let a brother in on it?

There are no "backwoods of Scottsdale Arizona." Scottsdale is quite often referred to as "Snotsdale" because is has the reputation of a more affluent community of which more inhabitants are of the hoitey toitey variety.

I actually grew up in Cave Creek, but that is like North North Scottsdale haha. I went to NAU in Flagstaff, where I learned the ways of a country boy :p

Could have gone to U of A, but couldn't stomach living in Tuscon. No water, just dust and tumbleweeds down there :D

To be fair, although I've never met CC268 in person yet, he doesn't appear to fit into the pinky raising, Zima swilling variety of people. However, he could prove me wrong very soon.

Country boy in Cave Creek? You want to tell them about Cave Creek and New River or you want me to?

I'm going to attend Thing 2's graduation tonight at UofA and driving up tomorrow morning to NAU for my neice's graduation.

New River is REDNECK! I didn't live in the town of Cave Creek/Carefree. I was really in North Scottsdale, but had a Cave Creek address lol.

Sounds like a good time!

In my defense, when I lived in Phoenix back in 89 - 92, Anthem wasn't even a city. It was just the place before you drove into Phoenix where the prison was located. I had a friend who's parents lived in New River/Carefree among the rich and famous. If its redneck now, then it must have changed.

Well...New River is a large community. It depends on where your at. New River is west of Carefree and is separated by the mountains. There are some very nice homes within New River and there are some pretty redneck/dumpy areas of New River. Just depends on where your at.

Carefree on the other hand (which is technically east of Cave Creek) is nothing but 1%ers lol. Maybe that is an exaggeration. Desert Mountain is unbelievable. One of my coworkers parent's just bought a home in there (1-2 million dollars). They also have a home in Sedona and Indiana. Must be nice lol

Okay, I was feelin' sorry I missed this event, and especially so after the pics and Radar's videos.

BUT if OkieFlyer was highlighting The Best of Celine-Vegas Show Edition I don't feel nearly so bad.
Somebody get him a Chuck Berry songbook before next year.
Please.
