I'm about to have some time off from work and was curious about the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and whether or not it would be worth a trip on my time off. Has anyone done it? If that isn't recommended, how about any Distilleries worth visiting in Kentucky or Tennessee? I enjoy Bourbon but I'm definitely not a connoisseur. Since I can't get to Scotland yet I thought hat might be a good way to spend a couple of days. I'm looking for any input?

Lynchburg TN, see the Beech museum and JD's place!

Been there, done that and enjoyed it even though I really prefer Single Malt Scotch.

Cheers

I've done it. It's a fun time. You don't have to be a connoisseur to start the trail, but you will be when you finish. I say go for it!

I live 2 hours from the Buffalo Trace distillery and sadly that is the only one I have visited. It is on my list of things to do this summer in my Cobra now that I have all the kinks worked out mechanically.

Make sure you have a designated driver. Several of my friends are planning such a trip and invited me for that reason.

Keep in mind several of the distilleries are in dry counties (IIRC) so you can't even sample.

I've done it, very enjoyable, found a few new favorites. Do have a DD if you really want to enjoy the tour. Get your passport stamped and get the free T-shirt!

It is a great time. Dip your very own bottle of Makers Mark in the red wax. With the warm weather, things are starting to green up already. Late Mar through May will be very colorful too. We flew in to Bardstown and got a rental car. KBRY-Samuels Field. Have fun.

Ended up liking Knob Creek 12 yr single barrel reserve on the high end, and Four Roses yellow label on the low end. Four Roses yellow is a really nice bottle for $18-20.

Wild Turkey had one I liked as well, I think it was called Barrel Proof (or something like that). Basically a single barrel, and not cut at all. Whatever proof it was out of the barrel is what you get.
